I think Old School Guy is their Wally, pouncingtiger. All those stacks of paper are a fine defensive rampart for obscuring desktop napping, coffee-drinking, snacking, etc.
I had a friend who worked this way for years. There was always a ton of paperwork on his desk and he carried a clipboard at all times. Everyone was afraid to ask what he was doing.
Absolutely love this one Wiley. The art is great and the look on their faces are priceless. I so empathize with Analog Man. What’s going to happen to the driving instruction “10 & 2” now that everyone (except me) has a digital watch?
Not because I like paper, but because for some reason we still have to do everything in the archaic snailmail and hardcopy file way, and I’m the producer and keeper of the entire department’s paperwork.
Now the real question is how many of those people on computers are playing Solitare…
When a unit in the army tried to obey a directive to eliminate unnecessary paperwork by cleaning out their archive files of outdated material, they had to submit a request to dispose of the files they considered excess. The proposal required them to list every file they wanted to eliminate.
The response came back some time later: The request was approved–but before disposal, each file had to be copied, and the copies archived…
