Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
1. âballoon coloredâ? Shouldnât that be âballoon coloured?â Someone is trying to appeal to her readers from the States.
2. âRose-coloured glassesâ or ârose-tinted glassesâ is the original idiom. Looking up the origin of the phrase, I find that in the 1800s, people started using tinted lenses (of various colours) for therapeutic purposes. Tinted glasses were believed to work against a number of maladies (such as jaundice, apparently). Learn something new.
3. Somewhere out there, people who live in a red state in the US are getting a good laugh from this comic strip. However, they should bear in mind that in Canadian politics, red means the Liberals, blue the Conservatives, yellow means the defunct Socreds and orange means the NDP.
I would say that a balloon popping that close by, would startle the dog so much, that he would run away and not just sit there for her to do it again. Do they still shoot hunting dog pups in training, that are gun-shy?
The real âtrickâ, Elly, is to be adult enough to understand that, while there is NOTHING much that is either absolutely shaded black or white, there is a world out there that is neither black, white OR a shade of grey (or gray, if youâre American) but a whole panoply of multitunitious colors â and theyâre ALL GOOD!
