As a Canadian, I largely ignored the debate about Fox “news”. Then, during a visit to the US, I watched a segment on healthcare. I quickly lost track of the number of lies told about the Canadian system by the hosts AND guests who were allegedly experts on the topic.

“Fox News” was the brainchild, more or less, of Richard Nixon and Roger Ailes when Nixon idly wished for a “news Network” where Tricky Dick wouldn’t be constantly annoyed by questioning by media that wasn’t totally in Nixon’s pocket! Ailes replied that at the time (early 1970s) it wasn’t feasible but was a wonderful idea, notwithstanding! With the advent of cable and then satellite niche programming became a reality and Roger did, in fact, launch a totally Republican-slanted “news” channel called Fox News (but cleverly omitting -in the hen house which was nevertheless ‘understood’) and, in a totally ironic gesture, labeled it’s coverage “fair and balanced” when it was anything but! So Fox was launched in response to a wish by Nixon to avoid “real” news journalists and so it has existed up to this day and now they’re covering a President that is better than their most bizarre ‘wet dream’; a President that exists in a ‘fact-free’ universe, totally malleable and essentially a ’blank slate" upon which to scribble (along with Breitbart and a few other alt-right and right-wing sources!)
I do not watch Fox – I have a rule that goes, "Watch “news” until you hear a verifiable or known falsehood and then switch channels." since I watch television with my laptop very handy, my Fox News viewing usually lasts 5 minutes or less! Note that I DO cut the “Opinion” shows like Hannity, Mathews, O’Reilly, O’Donnell, Maddow and Bolling a little slack. those I switch off when they are rude to their guests by continually interrupting them. Rudeness is not tolerated! Neither is stupidity, which is the reason I can’t watch Beck or Mathews – Beck because belief in ‘conspiracy theories’ indicates a laxness im mental processes and Mathews because he’s NEVER learned how to properly conduct an interview – you ask a question and then SHUT UP and let the guest or panelist answer. Chris is too in love with the sound of his own voice, I guess! (and speaking of which, I’d better shut up, as well!)
Kayleigh McEnany from CNN (who generally defended Trump on CNN) has just moved to “Trump TV” broadcast from the Ministry of Truth…uh, I mean Trump Tower. This “real news” broadcast is funded by unknown sources, and is 24/7 propaganda for those who find FOX to be too left-wing in its coverage of the Orange Menace.
