my wife did something like this on one of the sea islands on Georgia coast, she said it was one of the most awesome things watching the females lay their eggs. The poor little baby turtles unfortunately have to survive the gauntlet of critters that eat them. :-(
I applaud your efforts to save endangered wildlife, but…after reading this strip for three days, it occurred to me: by saving the ones who are too weak to make their way out of the nests, or not intelligent enough to make their way from the nests to the sea, aren’t you helping the less fit survive and thereby weakening the species as a whole? [You may draw your own inferences about my intelligence and fitness from the fact that it took three days for me to think about this.]
