Almost all these statues were erected long after the Civil War. There were spikes in construction every time white racists felt that their order was under threat or wanted to reestablish their white supremacist order. So you see clear trends during Reconstruction, the establishment of Jim Crow, and the Civil Rights movement to overthrow Jim Crow. These were just straight-up attempts to intimidate black folks, and should be treated the same way we treat swastikas painted on synagogues.

I heard not too long ago a statue of Robert E. Lee was taken down. So this here statue may not have a case either.

They won’t be homeless. They can go in the yards of those who love them cold stone faces.

The statue isn’t a good image. Mr. Sessions doesn’t have a moustache.

“Democrat-founded Confederacy”? Please take your illiteracy elsewhere. We’re trying to keep our racists literate here.

Can we “racists” at least keep GWTW and Mount Rushmore?
