Oye is such a good idea to throw the Flamin’ food in the bin? And I Do MEAN burning. Well I guess the lads at the local fire station could use the practice anyway?
Excellent strip today. As a frequent critic of these guys, it’s only fair to commend them when they get it right. This is modern Andy that would fit right in the classic Andy. Well done, guys!
Yesterday was light rain, and the water receded a little, but. The storm has moved off shore, is rebuilding energy, and is predicted to come back onshore today with more rain. Bottom line, as bad as it has been, it’s going to get worse.
Personally, I think I’m safe on my little grassy knoll.
It looks like the storm has moved off, headed for Louisiana. For me it was just another big rain event, no flooding. Much of the city was not so lucky, in fact was declared a disaster area with severe flooding. Sandfan, since you are familiar with Houston, I am located just west of Beltway 8 , a few blocks south of Westheimer. This storm was not electrical, very little lightning, we did not lose power once. During hurricane IKE nine years ago we were without power for a week and took refuge in Austin.
Hope you continue to be safe, and that the storm doesn’t come back.
I took my lumps from Ike, also. No power for over a week, and I lost my carport to the wind.
If you lived there 50 odd years ago, we were almost neighbors. I lived off of Stella Link and went to school at Pershing jr. high and Bellaire high school.
Stychen Tyme asked an excellent question about the best way to help the victims of this storm if one is so inclined. My personal experience leads me to recommend the Red Cross.
As you know, in Houston 6 inches above the flood plane is considered high ground. We have lived at this location since 1978. We moved here from Sharpstown. I’m a little older than you. My oldest son went to Sharpstown HS. My other son and daughter went to Lee HS. My wife passed away in 2010.

Where in Houston are you located? I lived there for many years, and the only high ground I remember is the freeway overpasses.

What did the bin do to deserve this abuse?

Good to learn Andy is results-oriented; we’ll soon know the result of his ‘other beers’…

For an Ultimatum to be effective, the result should be more dire than not complying.

Flo uses the smoke detector as an oven timer.

Well then, I guess everybody wins. If you tell Flo her cooking is awful then she won’t bother. Less work for her.

Went to my Aunt and Uncle’s house yesterday. My Uncle restores classic cars as a hobby. Got to ride in one of them as he drove it around the block.
