Geez, just imagine what he would’ve done if there’d been a preface, too.

Rat just ruined a perfectly good book

In Fahrenheit 451, the firemen burn the books.

My concern is for Goat, he drinks a lot of tea, which leads to kidney stones. That could cause a “burning” sensation.

Hey, Rat! What if the foreword was only four words? ☺

Burning books is a real shame.

A lot of time and effort were put into them.

Long, tendentious Forewords by “scholars” eager to show off their specialized research into a famous author (whose work is what we wanted to read!) are indeed often a real downer. I’m not going to point to anyone specifically, but I’m a Dickens fan, and there is at least one Dickens novel I’ve never reallly got into, because the @#$%^&* foreword drained all my energy and interest….

Should have gotten the Cliffs Notes version of the foreword.
