I guess this means that after careful examination Elizabeth has come to realize it takes her at least 2 days to think of a smart answer to the taunt of “Scuzz-bag! Scuzz-bag! Guess who’s a scuzz-bag!!” Clearly Elizabeth has bigger problems than being called “scuzz-bag”. Two days? Really?
Unfortunately we don’t get to see what that smart answer is in 2 days, so it is left to the imagination. What good choices are there?:
1. I would rather be a scuzz-bag with bottom teeth and a neck than a boy without bottom teeth or a neck.
2. That’s scumbag, not scuzzbag! Don’t you know anything?
3. Yeah, well, the teacher wants you in her office because you were running in the halls. Again!
4. Hey! Where did your nose go?
5. You know those people next to you are just silhouettes and they never answer people’s questions, right?
I had one time when I had the perfect comeback immediately. I had irritated a woman at work and she said " Get out of here before I kick you in the a**!" I turned around, smiled and said “If you find a shoe up there pull it out. It’s my mother’s” She and everyone else in the room broke out laughing!! P.S. It was the only time in my 72 years that I had that quick of a comeback.
After I’d made some pretty sarcastic remarks, my dad asked me if I lay awake at night thinking of nasty things to say. I didn’t, but it was a great idea. After that, I did lie awake thinking of smartaleck remarks ”my way of getting back at “the big kids.” After awhile, I got pretty good at it and words were my weapon of choice. Sometimes they outlasted a bruising.
It’s not what you know that counts – it’s what you can think of in time. (I wasn’t bullied in school, but was pretty much at the bottom of the pecking order. At 78, have outlived most of them
Hang in there – if history repeats there will soon be a classic that could easily score 200 comments!

Better pray, Elizabeth, you’re not a scuzz-bag again when going back in after recess is done.
