Since this is the nymph Ariadne, and Naxos is where she got the hots for Bacchus, and since Bacchus is the god of wine, I strongly suggest that the moral of the painting is that the hangover after a night of drunken sex is a doozy.
has minimal info about this artist. Other than his Wikipedia.org page, pointed to by the first URL, I couldn’t find any more about him. Though he was active for over 30 years, this seems to be his only work shown online.
