That next-to-the-last panel is also a good comment on our busybody nanny culture that always has someone ready to give us all unsolicited advice.

I remember when our second child was born. At two days old, we took him back to the doctor for shots and blood testing. Then, before we went back home, we ate at a local restaurant. It was very cold outside.

One woman took it on herself to tell us how wrong it was to take an infant out in cold weather like this. I remember telling her that she needed to tell our trained medical doctor about it because he wasn’t as up to date on infant care as she was.

Whoa. “Straight Arrow”. I once sent for a plastic see-, thru “arrow head” with a magnifying lenses, whistle, flute, siren and a bunch of other stuff. It was the coolest thing in the entire world.
