I have never lived with a cat. Many, many friends, however, do and have had cats. So I’ve spent considerable time in their company. And this is so much a cat thing. I think every one of those friends has at some point told me about some freakish thing the cat (or one of the cats) does on a daily schedule. On rare occasions, I have been privileged to witness one of these kitty kalamities.
Had cats many times, sadly none now due to allergic spousal unit. But this is a great depiction of when they randomly go all freak-a-zoid and race around the house!!! Well done Mr Conley!
Curious if this occurs only with cats that live only indoors. I have had cats for 50 years that are both indoor and outdoor free and I have never seen one do this.
Mine would do it only in the early morning hours say between 1 and say, 3AM. Never really cared what she was chasing in the dark as long as it calmed her down after a while.

I once had a cat that had what I called “The Five O’Clock Freakouts”. Every day within a handful of minutes from 5:00pm.

My two roommates seem lately to have decided that any time is a good time to go wacko.

My little dog does the same thing and we’ve learned to stay out of her way!

In my house, we call this “Schnutzy time”, and it happens like clockwork around 7pm every evening.

My dog has daily zoomies. Further proof she is part cat.

Both my cat and dog do this, but my dog was raised by the cat; I call it “going bezerk-o.”

Shakespeare wrote about chasing one’s butt in circles in his comedy Coriol-anus ;-)
