Actually, they should say: “Trick or Treat, smell my feet, OR, give me something good to eat!”. That would make more sense.
My son-in-law got angry that I taught my granddaughter that rhyme. She actually walked up to a door and said that and lifted her foot when she said “Smell my feet”
The appropriate response to the little monsters in the 3rd panel is a closed door.
