Back in the 80s, a New Jersey newspaper ran an obit either on or the day before Christmas for a man named Santa C. Claus, who had legally changed his name and who spent all his time looking very much like the famous Sundblom (Coca-Cola) Santa that is now the US default. His picture was by the obituary.
I have the clipping somewhere. I was going to print it as a service to parents who couldn’t afford presents. “Sorry, kids. He’s dead. No Christmas this year!” Can you imagine how many parents had to explain that to the kids? This was back when people looked at newspapers.

This comic has become downright hateful. Every comic has death or someone doing someone else wrong. Comics should entertain, not repulse.
