When my little Havanese would stay over at a friend’s house, he would want to sit next to her on the couch, but her dog would always take that prime position. She told us that our shrewd little guy would jump off the other chair, act all excited and run into the kitchen. When her dog would run after him to see what was so exciting, our dog would run out the other side of the kitchen and jump up next to her.
One of my 2 dogs does that all the time. We’ll be sitting on the couch, watching tv and he’ll get antsy and run to the door. So my husband will get up and go to open the door and the dog jumps in his seat. We’re getting a bigger couch this Christmas just so we can all sit/lay on the couch at the same time.

My dogs were never allowed on the furniture, but sometimes I would get down on the carpet with one for a snuggle.
