Japanese girls sit that way quite a lot ā€“ itā€™s even called ā€œOnna no ko zuwari (å„³ć®ååŗ§ć‚Š)ā€ ā€“ ā€œgirlsā€™ sitting positionā€. Having said that ā€“ some people blame it for the (so I gather) high incidence of bow-leggedness among Japanese girlsā€¦

thatā€™s a myth. Bow legs are genetic, not made. But back to Aliceā€™s point. I was considered a funny kid, and I hated it. My parents and sister were always laughing at something I said and I didnā€™t know why. It did made me feel very self conscious. I recall many times not asking questions because I didnā€™t have the exact adult wording that wouldnā€™t make them laugh at me.

Not all kids can sit like that. I noticed at a young age that kids who could sit like that could not sit in full lotus position, and visa versa. I was a lotus kid.

Luckily, Peter intervened with this self-consciousness-generating thoughtless remark just before Aliceā€™s toy car ran over that hapless doll lying there so forlornly!

As ever, Petey demonstrates why he is my hero and role-model, even though I am many multiples of his ageā€¦.
