We hadnāt been doing much of this since the kid left. My wife just hadnāt had much Christmas as a child and didnāt see the point. But big Christmas was about the only relatively unsullied part of my childhood, and as I get older, I begin to long for a real tree, with lights, a dusting of snow, and that tinsel that gets everywhere. So Iām sort of weaning her into it by setting something up while sheās away for the day. Itās not the full Santa yet. Couldnāt work out a place for a tree. But she likes it okay. Iāll plan ahead next year.
I love the healthy and loving marriage they have. The strip does an amazing job of showing what real long-term love looks likeābetter than most TV shows or movies!

I think weāre seeing him looking into both piles in the attic, trying to rememberā¦
ādid we put up āmyā stuff last year, or āhersā ?ā ā¦
before he asks.
Ā
Iām guessing, from a quick look, that he loves the whimsical stuffā¦ the snowmen, Santas, toys and reindeerā¦
though she finds it a bit childishā¦.
and she prefers the more āgrown-upā decorationsā¦
the pretty wreaths, and candles and holly.
You knowā¦ boring.
Ā
Instead of arguing, they take turns.

A great idea! My wife has never given me the opportunity to do the Christmas tree or decorations.
