Sluggo: What's so funny?
Nancy: HA-HA- I'm taking a funny picture.
Sluggo: I don't think it's so funny.
Nancy: Maybe not now---But I'll get a big laugh out of it next JULY.
Snow with much ground coverage is infrequent in Atlanta. At one time there hadn’t been a “white Christmas” in over 35 years. When we had a freak snowstorm in April, my neighbors brought out lawn holiday decorations, strung Christmas lights, decorated a tree in the picture window, hung a wreath on the door, and took lots of photographs. The best photo was made into the Christmas cards they sent out the following year.
I can’t believe I’m only now noticing that the image of Nancy & Sluggo is exactly the same picture, except for four stubble dots added to Sluggo’s temple in the first (or perhaps subtraced from the second). It looks like Ernie used a slightly reduced photostat there.
Bushmiller pioneered a process now favored by lazy cartoonists everywhere!
