Looks like Nancy’s having fun(nel) with her food…

It took me a couple of minutes to figure out that is supposed to be a grapefruit Nancy is eating.

I always suspected Bushmiller occasionally partook of the medicinal herbs and this is another data point towards confirmation.

Why eat a grapefruit with a spoon, though?

I hope Nancy washes Fritzi’s beer funnel before she uses it next. Grapefruit beer – yuck. (Not that she tastes it much when she’s shooting a 40 I guess.)

Hah, I thought she was being damn aggressive with a bowl of soup when I first looked here. Luckily I was clued in by some of the above comments that it is a half a grapefruit! Makes so much more sense now. :)

AH, a period piece. I guess this was a common running gag on stage and in shorts at the time (grapefruit squirting in the eye, that is…)
