If someone came here illegally, they need to be sent home, no matter how long they’ve been here. If they overstayed their Visa, they need to be sent home, no matter who they are or where they’re from.
Que vivan los Dreamers! Thanks for addressing the topic, its going to raise a ruckus, and all the trolls will come out of the mire. But we’re on your side. Sigue la lucha.
I try to have an open mind on the question, but when it comes right down to it, illegal is illegal and you have to go. It’s a huge world and borders need to be protected. Coming here illegally was a gamble many will now lose. And I am sad for those good people thatare caught up in it, but what can you do as there are too many to handle on individual cases.
If the GOP really wanted to stop most over the border immigration, they would fine the businesses that hire them equal to minimum wage & worked overtime.
Then there wouldn’t be the incentive to hire them, and there wouldn’t be the expense of holding and keeping alive families while waiting to deport them.
After all, farms, packing houses, and such don’t tend to move around a lot and are much easier to locate.
And your prices at the grocery would double and triple…
And isn’t that worth it if you REALLY want to “protect the borders”?
Cruz is the wrong character in the strip to try to make the case for amnesty for the “dreamers” since he is none of what the supporters of amnesty say the dreamers are.He is NOT a good student. He has never worked in any strip that I remember. His father is an abusive drunk that abandoned him and his mother. His physical appearance makes it look like his dream is to get amnesty, get sick, and get on disability.
Don’t say it is too hard to do it legally. I personally know two young people that were good students, did work at what they could, and have obtained citizenship BEFORE BHO tried to rip the Constitutional immigration requirements to shreds.
This is a racist issue more than an illegal immigrant issue. Nobody’s screaming about the 50,000 illegal Irish currently in the country, who are also using the same services some Latinos are. Having grown up with illegal Mexican immigrants in the 40s and 50s, and watched their whole families work til they dropped in order to have a safe and secure home (while they provided us with food from the orchards and fields) and having lived in Mexico for three years and watched men and women do the same there, my blood boils at the above comments. Poor and lower-class Mexicans are among the hardest working people on the planet and have moral and ethical standards that put ours to shame. Read This is Mexico, by Carol Merchasin, to learn about these people. And thank you Hector and Carlos.
Actually the vast majority of “illegals” are hard working people. The trouble is there are waiting lines of hard working people from other countries that DO NOT have the advantage of a porous border they can just walk across. To buy into the sob stories about the “illegals” and dreamers totally harms the people who are stuck waiting. As said by others above the legislative branch needs to seal the border and have real immigration reform. Another step would be to deny all government aid to Non-citizens and thusly remove that as an incentive to cross illegally. For those here illegally now that are WORKING, issue them green cards with a path to citizenship, that is if you DO remove the social programs to illegals.
Another step would be to repeal the 14th amendment ie the “born in the country” citizenship clause. This was written to give ex slaves citizenship after the civil war. It is no longer needed and just is another way to work around the immigration laws.
Moral of the story: If you really want something, then it’s OK to break the law, even put your family in danger and force your child to grow up a criminal. The irony is that Mexico, Central America and South America punish illegal aliens FAR more severely than does the US, yet not a peep from those who want to spit on the millions who enter the US legally, go through all the bureaucracy and crap to become LEGAL residents and citizens. Not a word about the gangs and criminals who use the networks to enter the US.

Cruz, were your parents so estúpido that they didn’t know there was a non-criminal way to get in? Probably not.

Of course, it’s OK. If it wasn’t, then the GOP would be going after the businesses that hire them.
You just want to pretend otherwise.

No pity here. When someone in my family broke the law, they went to jail.

Am I my brothers keeper? The answer is suppose to be yes. If you answered no, go back and read the book, or google it if you claim to be a Christian.
