It’s not just the Russians. At the Salt Lake Winter Olympics, the Austrians cheated badly. It is actually disheartening to talk with former U.S. Cross-Country Ski Team members about blood-doping among the supposedly more innocent countries.
To them it isn’t “cheating” any more than surgery that aids the limbs is considered cheating. Why not? Either accept it or instead of investigations just deduct what you see as adding to their abilities so that they are normalized. It will stop eventually. Better too than simply treating it as part of the (some) Drug War it sprang from.
I see no good coming from blanket bans. This punishes the clean athletes as well, and diminishes the sport by eliminating worthy competitors. The prohibition of the Russian anthem and colors for those athletes “allowed” to compete is just childishly petty, and for me, violates the spirit of the games. No reason to watch this Olympics either.
Trump has attacked everyone on Twitter except Russians and racists. I’m sure he will try to pardon the athletes and talk about how we aren’t innocent, there are bad athletes on both sides.

Some politicians seem to be fascinated by how long the Russians got away with cheating?

Now let’s see the medals move down the leader list to their rightful owners.

The attitude that “it’s only cheating if you get caught” permeates more than sports.

Nikki Haley says we need to keep our athletes out, too, because it’s too dangerous over there on the Korean Peninsula.
