Todays strip shows what can happen when someone overhears just a part of a conversation.Alfred Hitchcock was said to start a dialog with whoever he was with when they both got on an elevator, by acting as if he was in the middle of a conversation describing how he disposed of a body of someone he had just killed. Shut down everyone on the elevator and people crowded to get away from him. Unknown if anyone reported overhearing what he said to the police.
Kind of related to the gag that I experience many years ago. Stand with a friend on a busy sidewalk and both of you point and stare at an empty spot in the sky and talk about seeing something that in reality is not there. Soon you will have a crowd looking and pointing and thinking they see something strange.
