Dry, if you find some leaves scattered all over your yard. I took note of today’s comic and had 20 large garbage bags hand delivered and deposited in your yard so you and your friends could play in the piles. No need to thank me. I believe JFri will do you a similar service in the near future with piles of some of that cold, white stuff. You know what I am talking about don’t you?
I seared it and baked it for about 4 hours yesterday. When I got up this morning at 2AM, I put it in the oven to heat it a little then I seperated the onions from broth and put the broth and brisket together in a bowl in the fridge until this evening. I put the onions in another bowl in fridge. Tonight I slice the brisket and defat the broth then combine everything in the oven for another 35 minutes or so. We shall see if all the work is worth it.
Dry I still have some steam but once we have dinner, food and wine tend to tip me close to the brink and today will probably be worse.
I went to an annual artist’s grouping of several who are displaying their creations and hoping we will buy them as Christmas Gifts. Fortunately the people I shop for do not necessitate trips to the mall. I actually only by gifts for a tiny select few. The toughest is a friend of mine and my cousin. I actually talk to him 6 days a week and her (they are married) at most once a year. They are loaded financially. She can not go into a shop without buying something, because she feels guilty and he indulges her whims. She has a well paying job so it is not like he has all the money, but he went to Rodeo Drive to get his Swiss watch repaired. The jeweler said how about buying one for your wife (she was with him). He was shown what is called a Reverso, which means it has a watch face on both sides so you can have two different time zones displayed. “Do you like it honey” he asks. “Yes,” she replies, $4400 later they walk out of the store. The good news, he says is that he doesn’t have to pay the $600 to send the watch back to Switzerland for repairs. Now you can see how much of a challenge it is to get them gifts.
Well then, how about “Cheese of the Month” Club, “Coffee of the Month” club, “Wine of the Month” club? Parlty I’m being facetious, partly serious. Something on the high class end of course. Or just a nice bottle of wine, some fancy bread, and a good cheese in a nice gift basket?
I hope it tastes good Shika. I am pairing it with Smashed potatoes with cream cheese and chives.
Dry, that is very much like what I am going to give them. I am putting together a package of foods made locally. They eat out most of the time, but when she works they usually just snack of cheese and crackers instead of having dinner. So with that in mind I am putting together a little goody box. I also bought a nice wooden cutting board made by a local furniture maker. It is made out of two types of wood and shaped like a leaf, with darker wood being the leaf and light wood the stem. I may throw in a good WA wine as well.
We have garbage and recyling pick up every two weeks. Our community is smallish 80,000 and you have to flatten and bundle cardboard which is the most time consuming part of the procedure for me with LilG and her online purchases.
You never watch TV? Not even the news? Oh yes you do! :-) You knew about the Vicor of Dibley before you saw it the other night! We talked about it last year! :-D
Dry I get all my news on line. I cancelled my cable years ago and can’t wait to get rid of my T.V. I started reading these comics when I stopped buying a newspaper to save money!
My friends told me about the Vicar of Dibley. In fact, my church is going to watch it after church Thursday night, instead of bible study. It sounds like fun.
Dry I must admit that I enjoyed it the other night. I’ll see if I can rent DVD or something. Did you see the Christmas one where the Vicar eats three lunches, and then is asked if she will marry the man of her dreams?
No, the ones I see are on PBS and they rarely show the Christmas ones. And no, I didn’t see that comment about my new avatar.. I just found this little guy on a Purina Dog Chow pop-up ad, the World’s cutest dogs. His name is Boo, and that’s the hair cut his owners gave him, I guess! LOL!
Yes, it looks a hat, doesn’t it, but on the Purina website it really looks like part of his hair. Maybe he was a poodle. I should do some more research. That is a cute name, isn’t it?
The brisket was very good, but I cooked it longer than the recipe called for and it was 1/3 of the size. I would do the recipe again. The smashed potatoes and a salad with cranberries and walnuts made a nice dinner.
I think it is also at DailyInk. I subscribe to that and used to get Retail, don’t know why I dropped it. I’ll go check as I am reading my DailyInk now.
I doubt it, though he should be tired by now, but I suspect he is trying to figure out how to explain the shrinkage in the roast (yeah the roast) to LilG! ROFLMAO!!!
Oh cleo see my previous post, it’s not a hat, I don’t believe. I think that’s how Boo was groomed. He was on a Purina dog food website and I thought he was SOOO cute! Almost as cute as you!

How’s that roast coming along?

Hello???
Almost forgot the o on the end! Boy, I would’ve been in trouble by the powers!
Had lunch at the Olive Garden! Yummy!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
cleo you got up at 2 AM? Should I say goodnight to you now? Or do you still have some steam left in you?
cleokaya about 14 years ago

Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
cleo I used to love clients like that! They would come in for a battery or some repair, but buy an expensive watch just to tide them over.
They are the best! But I do see your point.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
I imagine I won’t see you again tonight, once you have dinner. Let us know how the brisket tastes. It sounds divine.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
I hope it tastes good Shika. I am pairing it with Smashed potatoes with cream cheese and chives.

His Shika! I knew you’d be around!
cleo that sounds like a lovely gift!
And that’s how I sometimes do my smashed taters. I also do cream cheese and sour cream and margerine.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
Cowboys and Colts are in overtime. BB in a bit.
johnnydoc5 about 14 years ago
That is a handy way to get rid of your leaves. Wonder what her friend’s dad would say about that?
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Howdy johnnyd how are you doing? Have you been getting any of the “weather” that has been flitting about?
Well, the sauce for the brisket is very good.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
Hey johnny! Watch any football today?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
Well I see it’s been an hour since I posted. Forgot it was garbage night!
cleokaya about 14 years ago
To answer your question from last night Dry, I am just using a regular oven.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
We have garbage and recyling pick up every two weeks. Our community is smallish 80,000 and you have to flatten and bundle cardboard which is the most time consuming part of the procedure for me with LilG and her online purchases.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
LOL! She must purchase a lot! Good thing YOU DON’T HAVE TV! I have a friend who is addicted to QVC, which is a 24/7 sales channel!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Hola amigos!
Hi Johnny Long time no see. How’s school going?
The brisket smells heavenly cleo
How’s the game Dry?
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Howdy Shika, the brisket is almost ready. I am a bit concerned about tenderness, but will let you all know.
Dry, LilG is addicted LLBean sale of the day.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
As long as you cooked it, and slowly, it should be fine, cleo.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
I LOVE LLBEAN! But I’m not addicted to the sale of the day, would be if I could afford it, I suppose!
Shika the Cowboys won. Didn’t matter to me either way, but it was a good game. Do they broadcast the NFL games up there?
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Dry I don’t watch T.V. and never watched games. But I know that everyone else in the world does, lol
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago

Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
I mentioned on an other strip that I like your new puppy picture. I don’t change my avatar much now.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
No, the ones I see are on PBS and they rarely show the Christmas ones. And no, I didn’t see that comment about my new avatar.. I just found this little guy on a Purina Dog Chow pop-up ad, the World’s cutest dogs. His name is Boo, and that’s the hair cut his owners gave him, I guess! LOL!

I wonder where Tabby is? Of course, this time of year, I should know. I keep bouncing from my paper to Baldo.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
COME OUT COME OUT wherever you are Tabby!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
I wonder what happened with the strips today that posted in Spanish? It was kind of fun to see though, except for the dumb comments some people made.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Do you get the cartoon “Retail” Dry? Today’s is so true to life.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Hello Babes! :-)
The brisket was very good, but I cooked it longer than the recipe called for and it was 1/3 of the size. I would do the recipe again. The smashed potatoes and a salad with cranberries and walnuts made a nice dinner.

How do you get a blue link here? This is the address.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Your link is forbidden Shika. How dare you mess with the forbidden fruit. LOL
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Hey cleo Good to hear. Too bad the brisket shrank. I guess that means there isn’t any for me.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
Babes? Woo Hoo! You hear that Shika? We’re BABES!
cleokaya about 14 years ago
It did shrink but there is plenty for you Shika, plus taters and wine. The salad is gone but we can throw another together for you.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
I tell you cleo I just can’t get my links to work here.
Forbidden, indeed. Well, if you go to comic kingdom, you can see what I am talking about. I love that strip.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Babes? I thought he said Babies. Whew. I was going to cry.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Of course, we are BABES. Look at the company we keep.

What else shrunk cleo? WINK, WINK!
cleokaya about 14 years ago
I googled the toon and saw it Shika.
Well Dry, my waistline didn’t shrink I can tell you that.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
You know what I meant, “George Costanza!” :-D
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Dry I am shocked at you! Wink, wink? LOL
What where you thinking?
cleo Since I spent close to 30 years in retail, I can really appreciate that strip. It is spot on!

The Duke 1 about 14 years ago
JFri is chilling, Miss Shika-moo!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
I just read Retail, Shika. You meet people like that everywhere! Even in my line of work! Sigh!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Yes Dry that is true. Even in ministry!
Hello Mr. Chilling Jfri!
Sorry I am slow to respond. I keep bouncing back to my paper, as I have mentioned.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
How are you chilling JFri? Watching something on T.V., or just chilling with Cache?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
He’s just chillin’ cuz his nickname is Chilly Willy, you know that cute little penquin guy?
cleokaya about 14 years ago
I worked in retail for a long time as well and never want to do it again.
LilG came upstairs and we watched an episode of house from Netflix. I am actually still awake. Although I probably display certain zombie traits.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
This game better not go into overtime! I have to work tmr.!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Dry- Jfri was just here, and you let the occasion go unnoticed! What happened?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
D@MN Ravens lost!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
I loved that little penguin! So cute.
cleo Glad you are still awake, with this gorgeous company.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
When you ladies are around the company is always gorgeous.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
I think if JFri is chillin’ he needs a snifter of Booker’s to put a little heat into the joints.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Well, now you can go to bed early Dry.
Although I guess that isn’t what you what to hear, lol
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Hah! Bookers will do that. I could use some too.
CLEO! Can we have some Bookers, pretty please?cleokaya about 14 years ago
Booker’s all around.
A toast to the Locos Ochos!!!Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Hear, hear! A toast!

You started it cleo! I’m finished mine, could I have some more? Please, sir!
Hear, hear Dry!
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Another toast! Oh…alright. To the best dang friends I could have without meeting them.

Come on Locos, hear, hear!!

cleokaya about 14 years ago

Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago

Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
Oh cleo see my previous post, it’s not a hat, I don’t believe. I think that’s how Boo was groomed. He was on a Purina dog food website and I thought he was SOOO cute! Almost as cute as you!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
Now where’s Shika? You know that girl can’t hold her liquor Cleo! :-D
cleokaya about 14 years ago
*Shika(( is probably singing Christmas carols while standing in the doorway to her bathroom entertaining her good friend *Ralph.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
The way I messed up that last post I reckon I have had a few tugs on the Booker’s bottle as well.
The Duke 1 about 14 years ago
I WAS chilling watching TV until I saw the mess in the kitchen! Took me 40 minutes to clean it up!
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Not bad for someone who has been up for over 19 hours.
The Duke 1 about 14 years ago
Cache never chills until bedtime. He always has me throwing something for him to fetch!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Looks like we all have tippled a little too much!
Dry (hic) I am hear, and I am fine!
cleo Who is Ralph? Oh no. It just came to me. I am not that far gone mister! (hic) Just happy.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
JFri cleaning up a mess in the kitchen. I am assuming you approached the job like the Duke cleaning up Lordsburg?
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Cache keeps you fit and active! Good boy! Did he make the mess in the kitchen?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 14 years ago
No not bad at all, unless JFri is referring to YOUR kitchen!
Come out Shika. The men folk need some company, and I am heading to the great Feather Pillows who keep calling my name!
Stay safe you two, no leaving cleo’s once you’re past the legal limit. Forget I said that! Stay put! Go nowhere, don’t even leave the room! SNERK!
cleokaya about 14 years ago
If you are going to tipple, one must tipple to much. But if you tipple, watch out so you don’t topple!.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Dry You think my feather pillows aren’t calling me?
Oh, I don’t have feather pillows. But if I did, they would be whispering sweet nothings in my ear. Like,
Get to bed *Shika! You have to get up early again tomorrow.*
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Are you bidding us adieu Shika?
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
I won’t topple cleo I am fine. Tipsy doesn’t become me.
How can you stay awake this long?
Good night Dry! L almost forgot you said you were going to bed.
I guess I’d better do the same. Any last words?
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Well if you all are going to bed I guess that I should too. Last words? Yes, I have to say…
Y’all are pretty nifty friends.Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
cleo It’s not that I want to leave, but my eyes are closing and my brain is shutting down. It’s a conspiracy to get me to go to bed.
I am glad that we’ve had a short time to chat. Too short, but your time is earlier than mine.
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Shika this is the longest time that we have had to chat in a very long time. Sleep well sweetie!
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Goodnight JFri. The Booker’s is on the end of the kitchen cabinet.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago
Peck!
that’s for both of my men friends here. Don’t fight over who’s first. There’s plenty of hugs to go around.
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS, AND SWEET DREAMS!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago

cleokaya about 14 years ago

Shikamoo Premium Member about 14 years ago

Good night to JFri wherever you are!
cleokaya about 14 years ago
Kisses, back rubs, and deep tissue massages. :-)
