Cannot be unearthed? Of course it can be unearthed, if they know where it is.

    Alexi…..

Unfortunately, that link doesn’t work for me.

I did find an article on Mentalfloss.com about lost time capsules….

    which contains the following information:

“Even though most time capsules contain little of monetary value, there’s always that chance that someone will deface or damage them just to be a jerk.

The City of Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, developed an ingenious plan to prevent such vandalism when they decided to inter a time capsule in 1962.

They elected a special committee to decide where the capsule should be buried and were then instructed to keep the location a secret.

The men kept their word all right—perhaps a little too well.

Twenty-five years later, when the capsule was supposed to be dug up for the city’s 100th anniversary in 1987, almost all of the committee members had died and none had passed on the time capsule’s secret location.

Only one member of the committee was still alive, and he couldn’t remember where it was.

To this day, the capsule is still hidden somewhere underneath the city."

I’ve never heard of any time capsule that was intended to be opened during the lifetimes of its originators. I thought that was the whole point. And as far as Christopher Columbus, that myth has been debunked for years.

Actually, whether or not Colombus was ever in North America depends on how you divide the continents of the Americas. Using plate tectonics, he was on the North American & Caribbean Plates (mainly the latter). I’ll grant that he may have been on the South American Plate at some point, but it’s not proven. If you go by the marker in Key West, then probably BIoN maybe is correct – but that’s something completely arbitrary, not based on facts. To get an idea of the complexities involved, check out this blog:https://tcmam.wordpress.com/2011/07/22/where-does-north-america-begin/Again, one person’s view (unless you count some other views in the comments), but at least he shows both sides of some of the arguments.

RBION statement about the time capsule is not correct.

RBION should have stated that, “So far they have not been able to unearth the time capsule buried in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1962 because everyone that knew where it was buried has passed away.”

It CAN be unearthed if they can find where it is buried. Someday it may be unearthed by someone digging where it is buried even if they are not even looking for it.

The capsule should have been buried at someplace important to the tow. Like a park or city hall.

The Centralia capsule is probably staying buried too, since the town doesn’t exist anymore.

What are teaching in American schools if people think Columbus put a foot in North America?

They forgot to use the full title: “Christopher Columbus, Child Raper.”
