Spare the rod and spoil the child…oh, for the good old days, and the prompt application of a hairbrush or table tennis paddle on the sitter downer.

That’s what you get when mom is a shrink. The only way the kid would me more screwed up is if mom was a child psychiatrist.

I believe in applied child psychology. Firmly applied to the seat of the pants.

A 15 minute time out when we get home. Walk to the car. Now.

Love all the old curmudgeons here, longing for a past where you could beat your kids with impunity. Maybe we should bring back the rule of thumb as well – don’t beat your wife with any stick thicker than your thumb. Might solve the divorce problem, eh? On the other hand, there are those difficult kids who will ignore your time out and continue misbehaving. Those might need the switch.

Only if the kid is being knowingly and willfully disobedient and disrespectful.

If her dad was Wotan he would take away her immortality, force her to fall in love with the first schlub who passed by, ruin her life, and literally bring about the end of the world.

Personally, I think Len made the right choice here, if only to avoid making more of a scene than they already were (they are, after all, at a public pool).

Dude should have spanked her. She needs it.
