Coming Soon š At the beginning of April, youāll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I cannot sleep so well during the night. Before turning the clock back I awakened at three oāclock and now I do it at two oāclock in the morning, than it lasts a long time , until I can sleep again, sometimes I stay awake and cannot sleep again.
Than I feel tired during the day!
Itās 1:30AM here. Thatās the same time as the new comic usually arrives here on the eastcoast!
As a child of his age I went to bed around 8:00pm and got up at 8:00am even when I didnāt have school. If I had the day off from school Iād spend the mornings in the house. That was morning kids shows and cartoons, hanging out with my parents, and playing with toys. I donāt ever remember sleeping in until I was in high school!
Iāve never slept well. And now I have a fractured pelvis, two fractured ribs, and pancreatitis keeping me awake. Believe it or not, the pelvis is the least bothersome of the lot.
The Bird55: I also suffer from a chronic form of pancreatitis. I cn sympathize with you as the pain can be unbearable. Fortunately for me it doesnāt act up very often. Feel better.
To The Bird55 and LX013: I hope you both feel better soon. I always considered myself an early riser (4 AM), but you all must never sleep. Maybe GoComics is the place of relief for people who suffer pain.
To those of you of always wondered why teachers get grumpy: reread the comments about sleeping through school and getting up early. Now multiply that by the number of students in each class, then again by the number of days in a school year (180 for me). Sometimes itās just hard to stay positive! :D . Iām not counting the number of Calvinās all of us encounter, either!!!
To The Bird 55āHave you tried acupuncture for the pain? Had a hip replacement done, and it worked wonders. After all the bones are healed, find a good massage therapist to take out all those knots. that helps a lot too.
I remember being in my twenties before I was out of school and noticed how nice the fall season was. Somehow Iād missed it in umteen years of school.
The pelvic fracture is just a cracked hip socket (acetabular fracture). Nothing too bad. Two ribs, lower right side, are causing the most trouble. According to all the stories Iāve heard, this must be a very mild case of pancreatitis. More of an annoyance than a pain. But enough to keep me up.
What happened? To borrow a line from āShirley & Sonā, āMy bike had a wreck, and I was on it.ā There is a very good story about how it got replaced.
iāll add my wishes for a speedy recovery to you and LX013 even though you got back before i got here thebird55. and, having had a couple in my time, i know that bike accidents are no fun at all.
I donāt sleep well at night either ā¦ and the older I get, the worse it gets too. I used to be able to sleep through a raging thunderstorm outside my window and not hear a thing. Now, pretty much anything and everything wakes me up several times a night and itās usually difficult (sometimes even impossible) getting back to sleep again. Needless to say, I am not a morning person!
Hi everyone. I read this comic every day and also read most of the readerās comments, too. Today, I decided to join the group and make comments of my own.
I saw all the comments about insomnia and it really struck a chord with me. I have not slept well for years myself.
Funny how when I was a kid I could sleep like a rock for 10 hours straight. Now, when I āsleepā (if you can call it that) itās for only 3 or 4 hours at a time and I toss and turn all the while.
I donāt know how often I will make comments here. I promise that I will try to make future ones a lot shorter than my first one hereā¦
I hate having insomnia!!! There are days that I canāt even mentally function cuz of being so exhaustedā¦ But these fall days are way too pretty for sleep!! I love it!
My sweet wife of 50+ years has my coffee made and sitting steaming hot on the table before she wakes me up around 10 AM, but I have yet to be able to get her to also go out and get the newspaper and have it ready for me to read. Still, I think Iām gonna keep her.
As far as Iām concerned, civilization starts at noon, and not before. When I was in High School, I had a very difficult time staying awake in morning classes. When I went to college (The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado in case there are any alumni among you) I never had a class earlier than 10:00a.m..
Iām with Calvin, today I wouldāve rather stayed in bed, but didnāt. Itās awful to wake up early in the morning when youāre a night owl like me.
Apparently Calvin has been messing with his time machine over the weekendā¦ he skipped from September of 1989 to November 1990. Hey, that box really does work!
Good evening, everyone, and I hope thebird55 & LX013 are feeling SO much better by this time.
I always wanted to sleep in during my working years. Now, with retirement, I find I still feel guilty if I sleep past 8 a.mā¦.
I had a bike accident three or four years ago and that whole painful experience has made me much more careful. I ride my bike everyday, but with a whole new attitude about keeping myself out of harmās way. Good luck TheBird55.
Iāve always been a morning person. When I did my final year of University, I wanted to take the earliest courses I could, but unfortunately most of them were later in the day or at night. My mind is mush at nightā¦.especially after a dayās work.
Wishing good health to all you ailing C&H fans.
I wake up at 5 AM every day, but as a teacher, thatās what it takes to be ready by 8.
BIRD55 - bike wreck or motorcycle wreck?
My motorcycle wreck back in 78 was broad-siding a pickup truck while riding a wheelie! Yah, I know, dumb! The girl on the back wasnāt too happy about it eitherā¦
She ended up being OK. Fortunately, I broke her fall with my head! (Yes, I was wearing a helmet which is the only reason Iām here today) My helmet was completely shattered along with a shoulder, knee, jaw bone and nose.
My sleep comes mainly from a bottle of pills, but hey, you get it any way you can.
As for the time changeā¦ leave the time alone! I donāt care if they leave it set one way, the other, or halfway in between. Just quit changing it back and forth. You donāt get an extra hour of sleep b/c you spend it changing the 37 clocks you have!
Iām done ramblingā¦ sorry!
thebird55:
Wow you really flew on your bicycle! I only flew over a hedge and skidded down the road sideways on my broken ankle about 20 feet! I canāt imagine what you had to do to sustain those kinds of injuries! Hey atleast youāll have a cool story to share in your golden years with the kiddies! Get Well Soon!!!!
Yep, it was a bicycle. Just a simple āover the handlebarsā onto my right side, in the middle of the street. But itās a very tall bike. (Iāll try to post an image of itās replacement). Forward momentum was nil at the time, so no road rash.
Better than two years ago. Broke six ribs, collarbone, and got a little rash.
That frame makes those 700c wheels look small. Believe me, itās a monster.
If I told you my sleep habits, you would all hate me. I go to bed about 11 and wake up at 6. Takes 5 minutes to fall asleep. Go to john once or twice, get back in bed, turn over and am gone again. Hubby said he had never seen anyone, previous wives or girlfriends who had such sleeping habits. Never read or watched TV in the bedroom. Sorry to rub it in, but almost time to wash my face and hit the hay.
