Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Did anyone catch Hobbesâ comment âinapplicableâ here? Calvin missed it.
No, Calvin got it, Teresa. That was the point of his own comment about preferring maxims that donât encourage behavior modification. In other words, Calvin doesnât think that he ever needs to change his behavior in order to meet the needs of other people â itâs other people who need to change THEIR behavior in order to meet HIS needs!
Now see Calvin your snow goons are so bad after all. You stopped them.
I donât know about the rest of you but all that snow makes me cold.
I feel sorry for ones living in states that had way too much snow.
Did you all see the city truck plowing snow and tipped over due to a hole?
Marvin could have learned âdonât let you imagination run away with youâ or âbe careful what you wish forâ or several other possibilities that would be applicable to other situations. But no, he sees the problem all in the snow goons. Iâm surprised no one got sick from all that icy water and Dad took a nasty fall.
Iâm sticking to my guns that HOBBES is Bill Watterson. As much fun as the rest of us have reading and commenting on C & H, why wouldnât BW want to get in on it. Call me stubborn.
Calvinâs thoughts and vocabulary at the tender age of 6 never ceases to amaze me! Itâs no wonder he gets into so much trouble at school; heâs so far beyond the rest of his 1st grade classmates that he gets easily bored ⊠and bored children find a way of entertaining themselves that isnât always so entertaining to the people around them!
Gretchenâs mom - I think you got it there, darlinâ. Behaviour modification is for/from others. Calvin is a pistol of the first order. When his parent are my age (67) they will have a magnificent basket of memories of this little boy to cull over. Now that I am thinking about it, why doesnât Calvin have a sister? More than his parents wanted to deal with?
Hmmm, it seems the Hobbes who lacks the imagination to come up with his/her own identifier thinks the comic strip here is all about them, well, for the most part anyway.
4 parts, âmy commentsâ and 1 part Hobbes the comic strip character. It seems like someones ego needs boostingâŠ
Maybe it would not be so confusing for LX013, or others, if whoever this impostor is would simply use a different moniker. Just a suggestion.
@mythreesons- I donât see any reason why Bill Watterson wouldnât want to comment on his comic strip online. I just imagine that if he does, he does so more anonymously. I canât envision him pretending to be Hobbes because he was so adamant that Calvin and Hobbes stay in the comics and not be put into other media. He never wanted the spotlight either, so I imagine the attention our Hobbes gets would have turned him off from commenting.
HmmmâŠâŠ. Now Iâm wondering whether Mythreesons could be Bill Watterson in disguise, trying to throw us off the track. Especially since there is no photoâŠ
Thank you MyThreeSons for your supportive comments.
I had made a similar remark yesterday in another comic, and she thought I was being too kind. Now, there are at least 2 of us who have noted how hard she is working. She really can believe in herself.
It seems someone here lacks the imagination to develop their own identifier, and seems to think the comic strip is more about them than Calvin and Hobbes.
I noticed there was some confusion by some when discussing the thoughts of Hobbes, so this person gave us all a lesson in ego: Itâs 4 times âmy commentsâ and 1 time the comic strip character. It looks like someone is needing their ego boosted.
Maybe it would not be so confusing for LX013, or others, if whomever this impostor is would simply use a different moniker, rather than steal from the original creator of the character. But thatâs just a suggestion, because it seems some here like his/her comments.

Howdy, All!
I got a letter with a Calvin & Hobbes stamp on it today. To make things even better, there was a BIT FAT CHECK in the envelope! BIG GRIN

I feel the same way!
margueritem about 14 years ago
Great stamp, Mr. Ed.
Yukoner about 14 years ago
I agree with behaviour modification as long as it does not involve change.
Ed, love the stamp.
Morning all. (Well actually it is still late evening here.)
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
Well All smiles, I see. So Calvin is lucky to have gotten off easy. Probably just a lecture about water conserving and curfew hours.
Best Stamp Ever :-)

<< Yesterday LX013 wrote: I would prefer to let Hobbes [be] in the Comic!! I get confused with so many Hobbeses! >>
Hi LX013
I get confused sometimes myself. Maybe this will help:
GoComics Hobbes Interpretation GuideâHobbesâ in plain font and lower case usually refers to Hobbes in todayâs comic strip.
âHobbesâ in bold font refers to my comments.
â@Hobbesâ refers to my comments.
âHOBBESâ in all capitals refers to my comments.
âHobbes is such a cutieâ refers to Hobbes in the comic strip.
âHobbes is such a big hassle to skip overâ refers to my comments.
âHobbes is a geniusâ refers to Bill Watterson, or Thomas Hobbes the philosopher (1588-1679), whom Hobbes was named after:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Hobbes
â Hobbes (thatâs me)
P.S. The lessons learned from this interpretation guide are inapplicable elsewhere in life.

I saw that. Strangely, it happened in Georgia. Not a place noted for excessive snowfall.

Snow goons are bad news.
The jury is still out for ice goons, mud goons, water sprinkler goonsâŠ
ratlum about 14 years ago
Calvin could try building happy snow men maybe build a band, you know singers and musicians ,dancers.

Finally, the imitation Hobbes and I can agree on something. I agree with his last sentence in his Interpretation Guide regarding most of his thoughts.
Today is appears itâs four times as much about him/her as it is about the comic strip character. Why am I not surprised?
