I was curious about “If I had a flower … .” Wouldn’t you know it? The internet tracked its origin down: https://quoteinvestigator.com/2014/04/07/flower-forever/

I used to think this way, but as of very late in life, while it’s good to read and read alot, you NEED to get out and find some people. Man is a social animal and isn’t complete without others. No burying yourself in a book as a substitute for others is wrong.

Imagination – what a wonderful friend – a pity the younger generations lack it in favor of video games, Internet and cell phones

I love everything that’s old, – old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wine. Oliver Goldsmith

Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life. Mark Twain

Do activities you’re passionate about – which make your heart and soul feel perky – including things like working out, cooking, painting, writing, yoga, hiking, walking, swimming, being in nature, being around art, or reading inspiring books. Karen Salmansohn

Good books, like good friends, are few and chosen; the more select, the more enjoyable. Louisa May Alcott

A home without books is a body without soul. Marcus Tullius Cicero

Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested. Francis Bacon

You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them. Ray Bradbury

One of my favorite quotes is a spin on a line from the “Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers” underground comic. “Books/Library’s will get you thought times of no money better then money will get you thought time of no books/Library’s.”
