While some parents do still believe that “leave them to solve the problem themselves as a way to teach them” is a valid way to get kids to grow & develop, the truth of the matter is that it’s not that great. Far too often parents can leave their child flailing in a situation where they’re too overwhelmed or too inexperienced to understand how to resolve the problem on their own, or the problem may legitimately be bigger than what the child can resolve by themselves. This is especially true if the child is neurodivergent and so doesn’t process things in a “normal” way.
