Hobbes is about to go the way of the Tasmanian Tiger.
But all Calvin has to do is save some of Hobbes’s DNA, and get Space Man Spiff to clone him and De-Extinct the Tiger, bringing the species back from the dead.
One of the drawbacks to that plan though is that Hobbes still doesn’t get to meet any babes.
The Thylacine, or Tasmanian Tiger, also known as Tasmanian Wolf was a large carnivorous marsupial, so two misnomers: 1) not wolf (canis lupus); 2) not tiger (panthera tigris). It was Thylacinus cynocephalus.
It’s better being a kid, not to mention that one as a human has more power to defend endangered animals. Even though there’s more conscience about this matter, there’s still much to be done. Already three subspecies of tiger have gone extinct, but we can make them the last ones.
Don’t be too hasty there, Calvin. Little kids are probably the next trophy species on whom Ryan Zinke and his merry band of millionaire hunter-commissioners want to declare open season. And for the poor kids of color they bag who go to public schools, Betsy DeVos will personally mount their heads on mahogany or walnut plaques to coordinate with their office furniture … fine stuff, just like Ben Carson’s.

The last male White Rhino in the wild has died leaving two females. They did save some genetic material however.

Subspecies such as the Siberian/Amur and Sumatran Tigers are not doing too well.

Sometimes I wish we had a time machine (With the hope that humanity could figure out a way to live in harmony with nature – and each other!)
