I can’t say about the other panels, but I can tell you that the panel depicting Nancy as Tess Trueheart with Sluggo in the role of Dick Tracy is based on a specific panel that Chester Gould actually drew. Thursday, December 29, 1949 first panel of the daily strip, shows Tess snuggled up to Tracy in exactly that same pose, as they are driving out into the snow on their honeymoon trip. She says “Where is this place, Honey?” and he answers “It’s about 150 miles up in the mountains.” One of my all-time favorite Dick Tracy stories, which I first read in the Harvey reprint comic books of the mid-fifties.
