Aaaand the penny drops…

Just going to casualy drop the name of a noted Endtown citizen as a prime suspect in the serial killings, who by the way is a wolf, right after the whole wolf supremacists cleansing mallarkey. I’m certain that chatty fireman and everyone else in earshot will keep it to themselves… Yup! No way this somehow leaks into the already concerned public and comes back to bite us. That’s a 100% guarantee, don’t you know!

Cooper’s last name is Hooper?

Everyone else within earshot: “Well, Grout, now that you’re here, about about opening up an arson investigation, if you’ve got nothing else better to spend your time on…?”

Grout is like the captain on the Titanic. Only sees the top of the iceberg. Key word being IF.

Hmm, even Grout seems to be realizing that this is somehow not quite as it appears on the surface.

“Somebody had peculiar notions, etc.” Maybe the arsonist WANTED to bring the evidence to the attention of the police.

Hard to burn down a house full of bacon when your primary suspect is sitting in jail.

Yeah, unless you’re either backed into a corner or TRYING to make a scene, shooting a remake of ‘Backdraft’ isn’t the best method of descretely removing evidence.

The name Grout kept seeming familiar, and it just dawned on me that it was the name of Crock’s pit bull. (Crocks’s Fort comic.)

I don’t see what the problem is. Looks like the BBQ pit is ready.

On one hand, the evidence is destroyed, but not without attracting unwanted attention. And chances are there will be something left to set off a spark of reasonable doubt as to Foxworthy’s “apparent” guilt.

And now, every air-breathing resident of Endtown craves bacon.

Quite effective though.

Well how does he know that the obvious olfactory evidence isn’t simply the result of one or more of the building’s other residents unfortunate inability to escape in time? Grout seems to be specially gifted at jumping to conclusions… ;-)
