If he looked at the full Moon through binoculars, he would be doing something dangerous, as such prolonged viewing is advised against (the 12.5" Newtonian reflector telescope we had at the Miami Space Transit Planetarium’s Weintraub Observatory produced significant warmth with focused moonlight on one’s hand, and we had to use red gel filters in the lunar viewing eyepieces to make the light bearable). The 200" Palomar Mountain telescope could ignite paper with moonlight.
