Been there, and yes, running the heater works, usually. I used to drive an old Datsun convertible (SR311.) Late in October one year, the top broke – whole back of it tore out when I lifted it up. I was too poor to buy a new top from a local dealer, so I ordered one out a catalog. Of course, it was on back order. I drove around for the whole month of November in an open car – in cold, rainy weather. Heater on, of course, wearing a Gortex raincoat and a plastic bag over a blanket on my lap.

I was stationed in Scotland and had to ride my motorcycle 70 miles to get it shipped to the states when I was transferred. It snowed! Talk about COLD!

You can turn the Heater or the AC on full blast and be more or less comfortable.
