The rich pay for most of our taxes; they pay, percentage wise, MORE taxes that anyone else. They have become more financially successful than most people, producing paying jobs for many others, and for that so many other people, who are not as successful and who don’t create jobs that help sustain families, want to cry and whine that they should have more and more taken away from them. The bottom line is this is all based on jealousy of those who are not rich. What the rich produce in wealth is NOT the governments. The government did not earn this. In this country, we have set up the government as an arm of the masses who, instead of spending more time making their own financial houses more solvent, spend their time conjuring up how to take money from others and complaining about others’ success as if THEY were somehow entitled to it.
Many of those who want to take more and more from the rich in a manner that’s way out of proporation than the rest of society, play the lottery, and if they won, would be the FIRST to complain about the government taking half of it…money that would have won, not earned.
I have no money to speak of, but I’m getting sick and tired of the people in the country who expect things to be given to them. This mentality will kill this country, and this philosophy is RAMPANT in our society. I say good for those who are successful. For those that have less, work hard, and appreciate what you do have…don’t spend your time desirous of others’ possessions. Spend that time working towards what you want.
eardroppings, let’s start off with one simple fact. The ultra rich pay at a lower rate than the rest of us. Why? Because in most cases, a large majority of their income is from capital gains which are taxed at a much lower rate than income tax.
Second, the ultra rich get more tax loopholes than your or I. I know a few very very rich folks who tell me this themselves.
Third, the ultra rich should pay for their income because they are part of this society – and if this is indeed a Judeo-Christian society, then they should indeed abide by scriptural mandate that much is expected from those to whom much is given. And the care of the poor is the obligation of the rich - eternally.
Fourth, the ultra rich are the ones who make the rules - that’s how they got ultra rich - not because they worked harder but because they are in power and slant the regulations to favor themselves. Though many are honest, they also know that they get breaks you know nothing about, and it is not an even playing field.
I myself am not hurting in any way, but there are too many who are, and the ultra rich got their wealth from this country - if we are a nation rather than merely a collection of individuals, then they have an obligation to the nation that made them so wealthy.
cdward…
Nice try, but, well, you’ve totally bought into what the left wants you to believe.
Here’s the straight dope about how the rich pay MORE than their fair share of taxes, and why people like you should follow my adivice up above.
