Trapper, you know sometimes words have two meanings (and it makes me wonder). Some would say a “Trapper John” is a toilet that doesn’t let you stand up again after you’ve sat down (or maybe an undercover policeman assigned to solicit prostitutes).

The distinction I make myself is that, to be a nerd and not just a geek, you have to be good at math. But of course there’s the problem of “pencil-necked geeks”, which tends to be associated with math skills. And how do any of these compare to dweebs?

(This discussion reminds me of the episode of “The Office” [BBC version] where Gareth is trying to clarify the differences between midgets, dwarfs, and elves…)

I had shown the computer geek in my department that I had painted my nails with Griffydor (sp) house colors and he called me a nerd.
