Is this supposed to be sung to the tune of some particular song? It seems like it probably is, but I can’t recognize it. With the “Hark” at the beginning and the “Ding dong” at the end, I figure it’s a Christmas carol, but neither “Hark, The Herald Angels Sing” nor “Ding Dong Merrily On High” fits the scansion or rhyme scheme…
Then again, my knowledge of Christmas carols admittedly has some gaps. I was unaware of “I Saw Three Ships…” until I was almost 30.

I sang it to the tune of ’Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella. Seemed to work.
