I would never try swimming in an ocean, a river, or something like the bay. That is not where people were meant to be, and too many bad things can happen. This is why we have swimming pools and water parks.
Well, there IS the occasional shark that makes its way through the Golden Gate and into the Bay. Don’t know about Great Whites, though…
When I took the Alcatraz tour (35 years ago), our guide told us that they used to tell the PRISONERS that the island was surrounded by sharks that’d had one fin cut off so they could only swim in circles. :-)
Ask the surfers, they’ll telll you about the sharks they see regularly. But they don’t usually surf IN the bay, technically. There was a recent shark rescue right under the Bridge.

I’d worry more about sailboats than sharks when swimming in the SF bay.

I thought great white sharks only hung out around Maine? Where the boats are smaller?

If you’re a human being, you’re about 500 times more likely to kill a shark than vice versa.

I never heard of sharks in San Francisco Bay. They’d be more of a threat in San Jose, lol. Sharks are more of a threat in open waters.

There are no longer any sharks in the Bay. Orcas have moved in. Orcas eat sharks.
