Personally I liked the brother and sister pair from the dimension Trolla - he (Chumley) is a troll and she (Tananda) is a trollop

Then there was Helen of Troy, who used to be a myth. Then she got married, and now she’s a mythyth.

(Sorry. Hmm… I think I first read this gag in an early ’60s Rocky and Bullwinkle comic, which also contained a musical number involving two Arabs: “…and we’re out together dancing Sheik to Sheik”).

As any professor or lawyer will tell you, Thor, never volunteer more than is asked…

SurfStuff55, don’t denizens of Perv prefer PerVECT? :)

If you’re interested (sorry for wandering off point, Justin), Studio Foglio has done a series based on one of the first books (which I admit I haven’t read, but am looking for now)…Google Girl Genius and you’ll find their most popular strip–go to the link on the right of that site called “Our Other Comics” and you’ll see MythAdventures.

I prefer Sallustius’ view of myths as stories about “things [that]never happened, but always are.”

Loved Asprin’s “Myth” series. It was a charming light read with off-kilter “quotes” from historical figures at the beginning of each chapter. I recall them as being in the same vein as Justin’s “nobody” reference on New Year’s Day.

Thanks Justin for the bonus level jokes hidden in your work.

I didn’t remember that it was Asperin’s mythadventures, but I thought there was a connection here. I liked his Thieves World series & his contributions to Merovingen Nights.

Robert Asprin (aka Yang the Nauseating) apprenticed himself to Gordon Dickson with the understanding that he would take over the Dorsai series when Dickson retired or died. At a Windycon back in the seventies, Asprin was presented with a teddy bear named Tylenol (non-Asprin).

Acetominophen doesn’t do squat for my migraines. Aspirin is much the same. Migraine Strength Excedrin (a combination of the two plus caffiene) barely does anything. My doc has prescribed Imitrex which generally works but leaves me incapacitated for an hour or so. Now he just gives me Vicodin which works on both the migraines and the pain from the herniated discs in my lower lumbar spinal area.

A couple of years ago, I was in Uncle Hugo’s, the preeminent science fiction bookstore of the midwest, filling out my Robert Asprin collection. The counter clerk told me that Asprin had died only a few days before, clutching a Terry Pratchett novel, no less. I said that was too bad, but if you had to go, you could do worse that to go while reading Pratchett. Then the clerk asked another clerk, “Are we putting warning labels on the Pratchett shelf?”
