Gracie’s lucky she and her friend have books to swap. When I was little, we couldn’t afford to buy a lot of books. Most of mine were 3rd & 4th hand passed down to me.
My local public library was my mecca for most of my books. The librarians were my friends and literary mentors.
Reading was very much a part of our family and encouraged without censorship. We were never told that a book was too “old” for us or too “difficult”. Don’t know a word ? That’s what the big dictionary was for.
My kid brother and I were both avid readers and preferred books to radio and television – I still do !

I think that Gracie, despite her proven maturity, is still a little young to be reading Brave New World.

Best part about owning a book you love is you can give it to somebody else…
(…and then buying another copy when you want to read it again; I don’t know HOW MANY copies of “Cannery Row” I’ve bought over the years.)
