I’m with you, Paul. I also hate that song. Not a curmudgeon. Just in favor of singers who don’t act like a song is an excuse for histrionic gymnastics and songs that don’t assume the listener’s a moron.
Overstock.com was playing their Jingle Bells commercial before Hallowe’en was over. That’s ridiculous.
Why don’t these people who carp about not saying “Merry Christmas” complain about the commercial trivialization of the season? For that matter, why don;t they concentrate on the really important event in their religion?
Aaron Neville sings “O Holy Night” the best. There Are hip hop Christmas songs, “Christmas in Hollis” by Run D MC for instance. There are probably a lot on You Tube.

Gosh…she gets pulled into this song EVERY year…
Edited to add: In the 08 comic that someone posted, someone mentioned the song really refers to shoes.
Donna VanLiere wrote a good story called Christmas Shoes that sounds like this song. Eventhough she says she based it on a song by New Song.

I am already sick of Christmas songs! They overplay them to the point it gets nauseating!

As far as song writing goes, Jack should keep his day job.

So Heaven’s cold? Because I’d think Heaven would be at a comfortable temperature socks or no socks.
