Actually, a woman I worked with left the job and came back 3 years later at least 100 pounds lighter. She told me about this “low carb” diet that got her to her goal weight. I nodded politely and left thinking, “wow that sounds like torture!” Fast forward 5 years later and I ballooned to my largest weight. I slightly remembered that conversation I had with her and Googled it. Atkins came up. I did some reading, joined a few message boards then decided to dive in. Less than a year later I too was at my goal weight and kept it off for years before I abandoned the diet and am struggling to get back on it again. So the point? Sometimes when someone goes on and one about their diet, it could actually plant a seed in another person’s mind for later and do some future good.

I’ll be having bacon, lettuce, chicken, and avocado with my lettuce. So go look elsewhere if you want to see someone who eats lettuce being sad.

I disagree, Auntie. My whole childhood was about people starting all conversations with “So, how much weight have you lost?”
