Jack: So what soccer trading card are you making, Mondo? I'm making a David Beckham. Mondo: I'm making a Mondo Ruiz world cup highlight card. I figure I'll be a star someday so I might as well make my own trading card.
At the end of season award party for my one season in 3rd grade football over 50 years ago I actually got something much better than the trophy’s that other players got. The Coach spent about 3 minutes praising a player for just being ready to do their best when and if the coach decided to put them in. No whining about playing time, no inovation about how to play which ever position he was told to play for that period, and always to be counted on to do the best that they were able to do. Then while everyone is either looking around to see who he means or preaning and posing sure it is them, the coach pointed to me as the player in question. And I was the only one about whom he had any extensive comments. It was really good to hear because at that particular time it seemed like at home I could do nothing right, at least in the eyes of my Dad.
