Those who believe in the sky fairy refuse to take any responsibility for their own actions, pass other cars on blind curves saying that god would take care of her.Preachers like Osteen of Houston make about $1 million a week, just off of the 50,000+ who show up for each service. Harvey hit and Osteen refused to open his church as a shelter, until he was shamed into it about a week later by the local newspaper and TV stations. A little over four years ago, a dangerous tumor was removed from my small intestine. It was making my life a living hell; it had closed up my digestive system. I thank the Lord for everything, from the skill of the surgeon who removed the tumor the night that it was discovered, to the quality of the medical care that I’m blessed to enjoy.
In December of 2017, my father passed away. Dad never really recovered from the lung cancer surgery he went through about a year earlier. He became progressively weaker and couldn’t stop losing weight, even though he was supposedly free of cancer. Dad died suddenly at home, probably from a heart attack or blood clot. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven some day, where we can both live in the joy of the Lord.
Although I can thank God for my own experience, I’m also painfully aware that doctors are human too. Physicians don’t have all the answers and can’t do everything. So I can appreciate the GA doctor’s honesty and humility, qualities sometimes lacking in all of us.
My own dad only went as he needed, he should have gone with routine checkup’s and heart specialist before cardiologist changed when heart stents came out. My mom only saw for minor not too much on major. Dad’s been gone for 17 years my mom 2 years. For husband he has 2 specialist he sees, for me so far one main doctor, he sent me temporary to a specialist once what was needed to be done, no more.
The really sad part about living is the inevitable death. And many do not choose to go when they die. Whether from car wreck or stray bullet or poison gas or mayhem we go. And we aren’t very good at resuscitating the dead. Though we are better at it than we use to. So fewer have died an stayed dead with minimal brain damage. Maybe one day it can be improved even more. Physicians are anxious to get one that works. I had recently watched one of those “Red Highway” films from the 1970’s. They spare you nothing of those who died and the ones who have to clean up. I don’t have a problem with whatever you believe that makes you happy and comfortable. Unfortunately I have no such psychological cushions. Occasionally a few like me are born. We get to see the world without that nice gauze of protective psychology everyone else does. There are no benefits from not having it. That’s Evolution for you.

Why didn’t Slim go to his brother-in-law, Chipper, who treats everyone else in Gasoline Alley?
