Dennis Miller ranked right up there with the late Mel Allen, as annoying sportscasters, I couldn’t stand.
But, of course the Number #1 on the list of the of sports broadcasting irritants was the inimitable Howard Cosell ! In his heyday on Monday Night Football, I know bars in NYC that provided foam “bricks” that the patrons could hurl at the televisions. The bricks were imprinted with the words spoken by every sports fan: " Shut up, Howard !! "
Howard was just playing himself, and then later played a parody of himself. Dennis Miller always thought he was funnier than he was, and he always thought he was a hell of a lot smarter than he was.

I liked it when Dennis Miller was on the show. I watched more broadcast then than I’ve watched in the years since, total. Ah, well.
