    I came back from overseas in 1982 and went Christmas shopping a week later in Southern California. My Sears card ha expired since I hadn’t used it for 4 years. So we went to the credit department.

    Where do you live? We told him.Do you rent or own? Rent.How long have you lived there? Less than a week.What is you last address? Japan.Do you have a bank account? Yes.Where is it? Boston.Are you employed? No.What are you doing here? Just separated from the service. Looking for work. I’m an engineer and my wife is a registered nurse.

    Credit card approved.
