This morning GMA carried the story. It was confirmed that the word recorded by the student was Laurel. However, some background noise distorted the sound. So it sounded like Yanni. Some people could hear both words. Proving once again that truth is stranger than fiction.
I kept listening to that recording and not only did I hear Laurel, I did not hear anything that remotely sounded like Yanni.
Speaking of Yanni, when I was a little girl and used to live in Spain with my parents, they bought one of his CDs, Live at the Acropolis. I learned to love that album.

It’s clearly Laurel – the Yanninites must be cleansed from our existence.
