Trump has apparently never seen a contract that he didn’t want to break, not in his personal life nor in his professional life. We knew this before he ran, and he hasn’t changed since then, not one little bit.
This will likely end as all the previous trade wars did with discomfort for people who wanted no part of it. We do not have the ability to produce the quantity/quality of goods at affordable prices with our current workforce.
The supporters aren’t going to have an issue. Figuring out the full supply chain of an assembled product is a challenge for anyone. Try to break down where all the parts of a plane or car come from and you could be at that for weeks. Price increases can be laid at the feet of “obstructionist deep staters”, “Hillary”, “Obama”, and “liberals”. The requirements to “prove” that a tariff resulted in a price hike at Home Depot, or Chevy, or John Deere is going to be set by the same people who say that Comey wasn’t fired because of “….this Russia thing….”
Most Trumplings laid in a HUGE supply of tin foil for their hats LONG ago, even BEFORE the election. HOW ELSE do you think that insane nutball got elected in the first place???
Its almost like Trump wants to see if he can break the economy that is currently going so well. He is reaping the benefits of a good economy right now, which at this point really isn’t his to take credit for. But he puts policies in place that could have disastrous effects in a year or so. Of course, as much as takes credit for an economy that isn’t his doing, I am sure he will blame others for a poor economy that he seems hellbent on making happen.
I took a look at the listing of proposed Canadian items for counter tariffing. A couple of items got to me.https://www.fin.gc.ca/activty/consult/cacsap-cmpcaa-eng.asp
While my comments here are typically vitriolic and venomous toward the right (and will continue to be) there are times when I see something and just have to respond.

Canadians….really? Which one of you is buying our maple syrup? Have you no shame?!
0403.10YogourtWhat is this stuff? I live here and I’ve never heard of it. And you mean to tell me you’re buying it?
1905.90.51Pizza and quiche??? Are you telling me you order Pizza from our side? Do you get it across the border in 30 minutes or less? Are you putting pineapple on it?

What does that mean? Its so specific that I’m guessing one of you has a problem with a specific person on our side who makes…..a cereal box? and is taking out your frustration on that particular product.

Republicans love this because it hurts the poor. They will gladly spend a little of their tax cut to stick it to the poor again.

Those newspaper prices are a bit out of date.

Many manufacturers that use steel started raising prices as soon as tariffs were even being discussed.
