    I hate to be a Sheldon Cooper but they haven’t used the Food Pyramid for several years; it got replaced with something similar called “MyPlate.gov.” But I get the gist of the joke and agree!

    For an interesting discussion of why “whole-grain goodness” is a disastrous nutritional idea, read “Wheat Belly” by Dr. William Davis. He found that a lot of even Ironman competitors have big guts. The more bread they ate, the bigger the gut, despite their strenuous exercise program. You can’t out-exercise your diet. (drinking alcohol has one alcohol segment per molecule Glucose has SIX per molecule. Sugars are really polyalcohols. They won’t make you drunk but they will pack on the pounds, just like beer does.)
