A man’s home is is castle is how their home is treated. And the green lawn is his sward like English castles have. Huge manicured affairs. And a huge waste of resources too. Turning them into sterile toxic islands. No wonder insect levels are so far down in so many place practically barren. I did see a butterfly yesterday. First one in months.
Went to a rural railroad crossing about 20 months ago, remembered the milkweeds growing there, they still were, so I “harvested” a few seed pods, scattered them in a back corner of my old pasture,,I now have about 100 plants, flowering and producing more seed pods, and about 2 dozen Monarch butterflies flitting among them today. Had 5 pairs last summer, that I saw at the same time so no duplicates. I prefer the semi-wild look, too.

The older I get the more odd places it seems to be popping up.

I always “weed-whack” first then the mower mulches that grass too instead of me needing to rake it up.

Parents who don’t have chores for their kids are not doing them any favors! Learn young that you have to work to get by in this life!
