I think of it as stuff I used, but for which I no longer have a use, and someone else does have a use. The way R. J., Hammie, and Verne say it is funnier.
This is neither true nor funny, really. Not around here. I am on a VERY tight budget – food from charity tight. I needed a new butter dish, not enough of a need to pay $7 at Walmart, but using a saucer was messier than I like. So I hit yard sales, estate sales, thrift stores, and ‘free by the side of the road’ bins. Wound up with a new (to me) butter dish for fifty cents.
Repeat for a new stock pot, whisk, and salt shaker.
Right, this is totally ridiculous and no one ever should do such things.
